At Longo’s, we only sell AAA beef or higher that has been naturally aged for a minimum of 21 days for tenderness and marbled for flavour! As we continue to "raise the steaks" on quality, we are thrilled to introduce our Longo’s Certified Angus Beef® brand!
What does this label mean?
Confused by all the label claims? We break it down for you, plain and simple:
GRASS-FED: If the cattle were able to forage and graze on their own fresh food they are referred to as grass-fed. The idea is to keep the cattle’s diet as natural as possible. This label is not regulated; there are no guidelines to state how much of the cattle's diet must come from grass in order to be deemd "grass-fed."
RWA: RWA stands for Raised Without Antibiotics. This means the cattle were not treated with or given feed that contained antibiotics. It is important to note that all cattle raised in Canada with the use of antibiotics must undergo a "withdraw" period, during which the cattle are given no antibiotics before going to market.
ORGANIC: Organic beef comes from cattle that are fed 100% organic food free of pesticides, herbicides, fungicides and GMOs. They are bred from organically-raised cattle and raised humanely without the use of growth hormones or antibiotics. The strict criteria are set out by the Standards Council of Canada.
