How many shrimps am I getting? Shrimp come in a variety of sizes. Names like "jumbo", "large" or "medium" can be helpful, but to truely know how many shrimp you are purchasing, look at the "count", which is the number of shrimp per pound. This is indicated by a number range on the package. For example, "26-30 count" indicates there are between 26 and 30 shrimp per pound. A tip to remember: the larger the numbers in the count, the smaller the shrimp.
How do I defrost frozen shrimps? For safe handling, ensure the shrimp remain cold throughout the thawing process. Remove the shrimp from their package and rinse under cold water until any ice has melted. Place in the fridge, or cover in cold water, to complete the thawing process.
